Faculty position open in Islamic Studies

COLGATE UNIVERSITY’S Department of Religion seeks candidates for a full time position in Islamic studies. The hire will be made at the assistant or associate level, to begin July 2008. Candidates with expertise in Islam in any period or region are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates in Islamic studies with training in religious studies. While Ph.D. by the time of appointment is desirable, ABD candidates will also receive full consideration. The successful candidate will participate in the life of the Religion Department, Colgate’s Liberal Arts Core Curriculum (CORE), and one or more of the University’s interdisciplinary programs (e.g. Middle Eastern and Islamic Civilization Studies). An annual five course teaching assignment may include an introductory course in religious studies, Islamic studies courses, and a course in the Core Curriculum. Colgate is a highly selective liberal arts college located in central New York with an ambitious study abroad program. AA/EOE.
