Disability in Islam Guide & Campaign

Assalamu Alaikum

Inshallah Tala, hope you are doing well.

From our acquaintances, we know that there are individuals with disabilities in our families and friends. However, not many of them partake in our community activities and discourse for fear of being seen differently. At times they feel not welcomed or distanced due to lack of access or inclusion in our programs and services.

To tackle this very issue, EquallyAble is launching a “Disability Khutba” outreach campaign to increase disability awareness and improve inclusion in our communities across the United States and around the world. A “Disability Khutba” guide has been specifically prepared to provide talking points with references to disability from Quran and Hadith.

To download this guide, click here.
We are thankful to Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) for their support and encouragement, and for endorsing the guide, and to many scholars and experts who provided valuable input and feedback.

We request you to make this campaign a success by scheduling a khutba at your mosque to focus on disability awareness and improving inclusion; and by adapting one of the “call for action” highlighted in the guide.

Together, we can make a change and improve inclusion.

Wassalaam
