State Rep. Rick Womick, R-Rockvale, told a pair of liberal bloggers at today’s Shariah law conference that devout Muslims should be removed from the military.
In a video posted Friday afternoon on ThinkProgress, Womick expressed doubt that any devout Muslim could be loyal to the U.S. military.
“Personally, I don’t trust one Muslim in our military,” he said. “If they truly are a devout Muslim and follow the Quran and the Sunnah, then I feel threatened because they’re commanded to kill me.”
Womick then answered, “Absolutely, yeah,” when asked whether Muslims should be removed from the military.
In the longer version of the interview, Womick says that Muslims that are less-than-devout should probably be allowed to serve, but he warns that they may just be lying when they say they don’t believe every Muslim teaching.
“Are you purposefully lying to e to mget by?” he said. “This is going on in our military.”

It’s sad the ignorance that is so prevalent among elected officials. It’s symptomatic of the overall malaise affecting American society. All of his hatred and bluster can’t erase this one fact, that Muslims in America are among the most loyal ethnicity that inhabit this country’s shores. http://wp.me/pgtbR-18W This silly little man will never admit as much, but he should certainly know that by now.

Agreed, and isn’t it scary, that this much ignorance is in our leaders? Is that a misnomer? Methinks it is.
