Job Description The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking to fill the Office of Human Research Protection Director’s position. The Director would be responsible for the leadership and effective management of the UNR Office of Human Research Protection (UNR OHRP), which is the central administrative office at the University; responsible for assuring compliance with all federal, state and local laws, federal and social guidance, and policies pertaining to the use of human subjects in biomedical/clinical and social behavioral research at the University. The Director would set the direction and establish priorities for functions and activities for the University’s Human Research Protection Program. The authority of this position extends over the University’s entire Human Research Protection Program, as well as over other institutions it serves as their “IRB of Record”. The successful candidate should have knowledge of operational requirements pertaining to the management and implementation of a successful human protections program, be able to apply and follow policies and guidelines from the University’s Federal-wide Assurance of Compliance with DHSS Regulations on the Protection of Human Subjects, the UNR policies and Procedures for Human Research Protection, NSHE Board of Regents Handbook and other specific rules and regulations that pertain to Human Research Protection. Should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, have strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications Master’s Degree from a regionaly accredited institution and five years of experience in a complex administrative environment, which includes public contact and implementing state and federal regulations to include IRB-related regulations.

Certification for IRB Professionals (CIP) or ability to obtain Certification within first year of employment. Failure to obtain a CIP prior to the first anniversary of appointment will result in termination of appointment.
