I knew Sr. Aminah from 1979 until her death.  She was very close to my family, helping me get married to my wife, Nadiah, and being a very close friend.  Her whole life was dedicated to Islam and to representing it in the best possible way.

Sr. Aminah brought many to Islam and reinvigorated many Muslims’ faith.  As for myself, one day I happened to come across a booklet she had written, and one of her introductory sentences still inspires me.  She said, “Everyday I wake up, I choose to be a Muslim.”  I, too, every day choose to be a Muslim by the Grace of Allah.

She died on Friday March 5, 2010 at around 3 a.m.  in a car accident returning from a Dawah trip in New York City.  May Allah grant her Jannah ul Firdos.  We will miss her.
